My Story
The Beginning: I was born in Boston right after the Hurricane of '38'. My parents raised me in West Roxbury and Braintree, MA with a short stint of 3 years in Manchester, NH.
Education: I graduated from Archbishop Williams High School as a National Merit Scholar and went on the Northeastern University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. I was also graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate and decided to accept a Regular Army Commission.
Military Experience: I served in the US Army Signal Corps for 9 years. I am a Vietnam Veteran (1963-64 and 1969-70). In my tours of duty I have received the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (2), and the Meritorious Unit Citation. I received an Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1970. I had reached the rank of Major.
Work Experience: During the next 31 years, I worked in the Aerospace Industry as an engineer and a manager. Four of these years were spent designing communications networks. I also spent 20 years designing and developing computer systems for command and control of military forces. During this period, I was a project leader and manager of up to 40 other engineers. I also spent 7 years as a marketing manager and director for a large Aerospace company primarily in the command and control systems area.
Real Estate Experience: I have been in the real estate business as an agent/sales associate for a total of five years. I started in the business while I was living in Northern Virginia and in 2007, reentered the business here on Cape Cod. I have attained the Real Estate Cyberspace Specialist (RECS) and Short Sale Specialist (SSS) designations.
My Family: I have been married 47 years to my wife Pat also of Braintree, MA. During our life together we have been fortunate to have two sons (Mark and Walter, Jr). We also have three wonderful grandsons, two beautiful granddaughters, and one great grandson.

My References
These letters were received from satisfied clients and are reprinted here to help you can get to know who I am. They were sent to Jim Machnik, Owner of Today Real Estate.
From Bill Weeisensee and Melody Hunt:
"We are writing this letter to express our satisfaction with the sale of our home at 19 Boulder Brook Rd in East Sandwich. We had formerly listed our home with one of your competitors for 14 months and after 50+ showings (many of them multiples) we had one offer which was mishandled and failed to close.
We contacted Walt Tyo at your office and he delivered an offer within 90 days which we accepted. Throughout the process we found Walt to be very professional and knowledgeable. He accuratley gave us an estimate and timetable which he then delivered on. He kept us informed aat all times and helped us maintain a positive attitude during these difficult economic times. We will recommend Today Real Estate as a company and Walt Tyo as an agent to any of our friends who are thinking of selling in the near future. Thanks to Walt for a job well done."
From Mark Spadaro (Re: 97 South Sandwich Rd, Mashpee, MA 02649):
"I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to one of your realtors, Mr. Walt Tyo.
When it was time to sell a property that had been in my family for almost 20 years, in this current economy, I knew I had a rather significant project to accomplish. In preparation, I called on and telephoned may of your competitors and was not at all satisfied with them. The list of my dissatisfactions was long, but was consistent among them all. Having been a real estate investor, I knew what style of real estate professional I needed, and Mr. Tyo exceeded my expectations and taught me some more valuable life lessons and skills about real estate.
Mr. Tyo was completely prepared and from the moment we met I knew I was talking to a professional. From his strong, all-business handshake, professional introduction, direct answers to all my questions and concerns, he set a tone that earned my complete confidence and respect.
Mr. Tyo went "above and beyond" even in today's market to ensure every detail, no matter how small was properly addressed. His expertise of how to "stage" the property from day 1, professional knowledge of various ways to list the property from tried and true methods like discussions with fellow agents to 21st century internet listings maximized the potential to get this house into eyes of the entire world in an attempt to sell this house.
He also went out of his way making sure the house was always in great order. I live in Boston, and a trip to the Cape to check on the house is a long, expensive trip. He always kept an eye on the house and attended to all the needs to ensure the house was always in great condition and all documentation and inspections were properly completed.
If anyone asks me who to talk to about a property on the Cape, Mr. Tyo would be my one and only recommendation. I am 100% satisfied with him and grateful to him for helping me navigate this very difficult matter."
